Surplus Assured

BRIGHT FORECAST OF BRITISH FINANCES. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyrigh t. Received Sunday, 7 p.m. RUGBY, Feb. 21. Newspapers are beginning to speculate on the outcome of the financial year which has only six weeks to run. Despite supplementary estimates amounting to over £20,000,000 it is generally believed that a surplus of several millions is assured. The results will have been achieved partly by a revenue yield somewhat in excess of the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s estimates, and partly by a saving on tho estimated expenditure. Account is taken in these optimistic forecasts of a number of supplementary estimates amounting to several millions, yet to be published. The largest will be in respect of the post office.
