Wash well 1 lb. of horehound leaves and stems, put into 2 gallons of water, add i cup of maize, a handful of bruised ginger and 4 lbs. of sugar. Boil for 1 hour, leave overnight to cool, and strain next day. Add J cup yeast and bottle when fermentation ceases. Ready in a week. Said to be a good tonic.
