A New Blue Discovered

A new blue, discovered as a lucky accident by the technical experts of the Imperial Chemical Industries, seems to overcome most of the deficiencies that have hitherto marked the blue section of the artistic and commercial paletto. Monstral Fast Blue 8.5., as it has been christened, is in colour a brilliant and almost pure blue. It is said to resist light, heat, acids, alkalis, is insoluble in oil, spirit, and nitro-cei-lulose solvents, and is characterised by high tinctorial values, or, in othei words, a little goes a long way (says Jan Gordon, in the Observer). Now ws can have all sorts of things in bright true blue that hitherto were impossible, we can have unfadably blue golf bags or suit cases, blue book cloths, blue linoleums, blue hot water bottles, blue gas stoves, blue soap wrappers, and blue printing in our tin plate designs. For the nursery it is ideal; the child will now be able to suck his brush till he is all blue and not a farthing’s worth of harm done of any kind.
