Pleasing Ram Fair At Masterton

PRICES WELL MAINTAINED. Per Press Association. MASTERTON, Last Night. The demand for stud aud flock Southdowns offered at the Masterton A. and P. Association’s annual rani fair today, was in direct contrast to that prevailing for Eomncys on the opening day and the sale can be characterised as highly satisfactory. Though the offering of flocks was up ou last year, there was no over supply and passings were the exception. Bidding was well sustained from tho opening to the close of the catalogue while for better quality animals, buyers’ limits became more elastic and some iirst-class prices were paid. Mr H. J. Andrews, a South Island breeder, topped the market for flocks securing 31 guineas while a stud Southdown ram lamb offered on account of Sir William and Mr R. M. Perry, realised 85 guineas. Mr A. C. Vile (Bulls), purchased a Perry rum, while Air N. J. Cullinane (Dannevirkc) paid 77 guineas for a ram offered on account of Mr J. 11. Andrews. Twenty-five studs were sold at an average of about 22 guineas as (joinpared with 17 guineas for 21 sold last yeai. The tup price for Studs last year was -TO guineas.
