PERSONALITIES
It was announced yesterday by Hon. D. G. Sullivan as Minister in charge of the Department of Scientific and industrial Keseareh, that Mr T. Rigg, Director of Cawthrou Institute, Nolson, had been appointed acting-chairman of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Keseareh Department during the absence of Professor H. G. Denham. One of the leading figures in the freezing industry in New Zealand, Mr. Thomas Simson, until recently general manager of the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Co., Ltd., died yesterday. Mr. Simson, who was born In Dunedin in 18(57, had been connected with the freezing industry for nearly 50 years and was regarded, particularly from the engineering point of view, as an authority on refrigerating matters.
