Another Good Wool Sale at Napier

PRICES IN SELLERS’ FAVOUR. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Last Night. Prices fully firm on those ruling at the last Napier and Wellington sales and in some instances in favour of sellers obtained at the third Napier wool sale held to-day. The total offering was 30,163 bales and’included all qualities of wool from the Hawke's Bay and Gisborne districts. A full bench of buyers maintained keen bidding though within restricted limits, the Continent and Japan, though Bradford was keen for certain suitable lots. Germany was not so strong as at the Wellington sale. Forty-eights and 50's were 2d dearer but 50's upwards showed little change. Bellies and pieces were in keen demand, mostly from Continental buyers. There was a fair entry of lambs' wool which elicited keen competition, prices being on a par with the Wellington sale. The percentage of wool sold was considered highly satisfactory and the sale was the brightest held in Napier this season. Inferior sorts, including second pieces, low grade lambs, locks and crutchings met a good demand at rates which generally hardened on the prices obtained in tho January Napier sale. Surprisingly good prices were obtained for some seedy lots. Marked rivalry was displayed for Southdown which realised up to 14}d. Owing to the late shearing, .hogget wool was In greater supply than usual, several good top lines being offered, the highest price paid being 13-}d. Prices generally for this wool ranged from 9d to 12d. Values appeared to be up to the ideas of growers' standards of prices and very few lots were passed in.
