German Churches Defy Nazism
CATHOLICS AND PROTESTANTS BREAK LONG SILENCE.

Received Monday, 9.60 p.m. BERLIN, Jan. 13. After a long silence the Protestant pastors and Catholic priests vigorously denounce tho Nazi persecution. They are issuing a manifesto from hundreds of pulpits defying the efforts to turn the Evangelical church into a branch of the Nazi party. The Catholic bishop of Berlin requires his flock to repudiate the Nazi theory of “blood and iron.”
