Fire at Waipukurau

BUSINESS PREMISES DAMAGED. Per Press Association. WAIPUKUKAU, Jan. 13. An outbreak of lire, which was quickly extinguished by the lire brigade, occurred at 6-45 p.m. yesterday when considerable damage resulted to the stock of Messrs L. Hawke and Co.-, electricians, radio and music dealers, and also small loss iu Mr. E. C. Woodward's pharmacy adjoining. The building which was owned by Mr. A. E. Jull, was only slightly damaged. The cause was possibly a dropped cigarette butt. The stock,, plant and office furniture of Hawke and Co., was insured for £957 in tho Public Mutual Compuny, while Mr. Woodward is covered by the Mutual Insurance Office and Mr. Jull by the National Ini surance Co. i

Dwelling Destroyed

WAIPUKURAU, Jan. 13

A dwelling owned and occupied by Mr. R. McNabb at Talcapau, was totally destroyed by fire at the week-end. The origin is unknown while insurances are understood to be £350 on tho bouse and £250 on tho furniture and held by tho National Insurance Office. Some articles were saved.
