Ted Naismith. played a brilliant round of golf on the opening day yesterday of the Los Angeles 5000-dollar open tournament to score 68, two under par, and tic for sixth place, Picard’s sensational 06 leading the field. Richardson scored 72, Cohen and George Naismith 75, Bolgcr 79 and Kelly SI. With the greens sticky from rains, Naismith suffered a reversal of form to-day and took SI to go round. He failed to qualify, with a total for the two rounds of 1-19. Richardson was the only player to qualify among the Australians. To-day he returned a score of 75, giving him a total of 147. The other aggregate scores of the Australians were:—Cohen and George Naismith 152, Bolgcr 160. Kelly withdrew. Hines and Picard shared the lead with 137.
