APPROACHING BIG DAY AT MILSON Elaborate preparations aro being made for accommodating wliat is expected to bo a record attendance at Milson aerodrome, Palmerston North,

on Wednesday, on the historic occasion of the official opening of Union Airways’ trunk service. Tho cere-

mony of christening tho three airliners will be performed at 1.45 p.m. by Hon. F. Jones, Postmaster-General, foliowing which ono of the machines wilt

leave for Dunedin and tho other two will bo engaged in complimentary flights and joyrides at the aerodrome.

In addition to the wide interest attaching to the inauguration of this service the public entertainment will be well catered for during tho afternoon by a highly spectacular programme of exhibition flying events and novel parachute demonstrations. This programme is being arranged by the Manawatu Aero Club, with tlia co-operation of tho New .Zealand Air Force and leading professional pilots and parachutists of • tho Dominion. The Air Force demonstration will include an exhibition of aireratt manoeuvres directed by radio from the ground, and an aerial duel carried out by Flight-Licut. D. M. Allan, of Auckland, and Flying Officer G. M. Firth—a realistic and thrilling event Dual parachute demonstrations by Pilot Officer Fraser and Captain (Sellars will also provide a novel sensation. Announcements will be madt. from a first-class loud-speaker system. Free parking accommodation for over 3000 cars will be provided at the eastern end of the aerodrome, from Setters line, which will bo the only access for car traffic. Traffic fi'orn town will proceed via Featherstone street, Vogel street, Boundary road and Setters lino (one way only). Refreshments will be available at the aerodrome.
