MARTON JUNCTION. The monthly meeting took the form of a piciiic which was held in Mr Gronn’s bush on Hawkestone road on January 8. The day was overcast but remained fine', and a very happy time was spent. Besides the many novelty races for young and old, there were treasure hunts for the children, and several competitions for the adults. Lolly and peanut scrambles found favour with all. Afternoon tea and tea were partaken of and done full justice to. The usual monthly competition received very few entries; this was for an article made from old felt hats and resulted in Mrs S. Lewis gaining first with Mrs Franko second. Tho competitions for the next meeting on February 5 are (a) 6 varieties sandwiches, (b) crochet d'oyley.
