Mr R. W. Brown, of "Glengarnock,” ;Waiata, reports on Waiata's rainfall as follows: 1.14 inches of rain fell during December, compared with 1.33 inches last year. The average December rainfall since 1913 was 3.31 inches, the highest recorded being 8.59 inches in 1924 and the lowest .81 In 1916. 1935 was one of the wettest years on record, 49.29 Inches being recorded. Tho highest annual fall since 3913 was 49.C0 inches in 1925, and tho lowest, 28.17 inches, in 1919, the average since 1913 being 35.55. Favorjfted with fine weather, harvesting and haJßnaldng operations are in full swing. vTlid area in rye grass is larger than usual, and the quality of the seed is generally high. Good draftings of fat lambs are reported in all parts of tho district, and, while quality appears to be short of last year’s standard, the lambs compare very favourably with draftings on tho lower country. The new tennis courts are proving popular. Ladder games are now being played, and a number of matches with neighbouring clubs are being arranged.
