Hides and Skins

Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., in conjunction with Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—Wc held our fortnightly sale of tallow, skins and hides last Friday', when wo offered an average catalogue to a large attendance of buyers. Sheepskins: Competition J'or these was very animated, prices for dry skins being from Id to Id higher than last sale. Salted skins were about Is per skin higher. ;

Hides: These were also in very keen demand, cow hides being about Id per lb. higher. Ox hides wero Id per lb. higher for heavy weights and about 4d for light weights. Calfskins were about Ad higher and kip were from -id to Id per pound higher. Tallow: There was a smaller offering than usual of this, prices being about Is per cwt. higher than last sale. The following is the official range of prices:—

Dry sheepskins: Half bred, 7id to 92<3; fine crossbred, 7d to 9Jd; medium crossbred, 7d to Sid; coarse crossbred, 6pl to Sd; half-wools, 4d to Sd; quarter wools, 4d to 7d; pelts, 2Jd to sd. Salted skins: Pelts, 9d to Is 6d; quarter wools, Is to 2s 6d; half-wools, 2s to 8s 9d; three-quarter wools, 3s to 3s 9d; full wools, 2s 9d to 6s lOd. Hides: Ox, 331bs. to 441b5., 3d to Old; ox, 451bs. to 521b5., 4Jd to 7 1-Sd;
