A Farewell Evening at Feilding

At the invitation of Mrs A. Hendry a number of intimate friends gathered on Friday evening at her homo in Lytton street to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs W. B. Gray, who were leaving the following day for New Plymouth. Mrs Hendry received her guests frocked iu green suede crepe and Mrs Gray wore a becoming frock of pale green satin beaute. Gorgeous tulips and Iceland poppies gave a very pleasing appearance to tho drawingroom, the dining-room being also bedecked with flowers in brilliant colouring. Bridgo occupied the attention of those who wero present, and the prize-, winners were Mr and Mrs H. Brown. Community singing added to the pleasure of a very happy evening. A posy of beautiful flowers was given Mrs Gray upon her arrival at the party, and after supper Mrs Hendry on behalf of tlio gathering asked her to accept a handsome Chinese brass bowls as a token of remembrance and affection. In making the presentation Mrs Hendry said their friends would bo extremely sorry to lose Mr and Mrs Gray, but hoped fortune would favour them with health and happiness in their new home in the North. After the singing of “They Are Jolly Good Fellows” both Mr and Mrs Gray spoke in appreciative terms of the kindness shown them and voiced their regrets at leaving their friends and the town in which they had enjoyed a long residence. At a very late hour all gathered round the guests of honour to sing “Auld Lang Syne.” During the week Mrs Gray was honoured by several other parties and presentations, and tho departure from Feilding of she and her husband is deplored by a large circle of friends with whom they have been particularly popular.
