Wages Dispute
WEST cdAST MINERS,
NO AGREEMENT REACHED
Per Press Association. REEFTON, Oct 17. A committee under the Labour Disputes Investigation Act sat yesterday under the chairmanship of Mr W. Aleldrum, regarding the wage dispute between the Blackwater miners and Blaekwater Mines, Ltd. The miners asked for an increase of two shillings per day and five shillings a foot or fathom for contractors. The Company suggested paying the same rates as has been agreed upon at Wailii, plus the extra amount always paid in this field as compared with Waihi for similar work. No agreement was arrived at and the matter has now been referred to the Minister of Labour.
