Feiling Stock Sale

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on Friday's sale. An average entry of fat slieep camo to hand, the larger proportion being shorn. The quality was a little mixed, but prices remained firm. Fat hoggets were inquired for, and there was a good sale in this section. A slightly heavier yarding of store sheep was submitted but the quality of tho hoggets with few exceptions was of tho lower grade, and these met a dull sale. A few lines of ewes and iambs also were offered, but competition was not particularly good, no doubt owing to the late season and tho shortago of feed about. There was a good sale of beef cattle, the market being firm with an upward tendency. Kuu cattle met a steady sale, but here again —the lack of feed had some effect on tho market. Dairy stock showing quality and close to profit were in strong demand, and Friday’s sale was the best in this direction that has been seen for some time. We quote: —

Fat shorn hoggets, 16s lOd; fat woolly hoggets, 22s 7d, 22s Sd; fat owes, 11s 7d, ISs 9d, 20s 3d, 20s Od; fat b.f. civcs, 19s 4d; fat shorn ewes, 11s Od to 14s 9d; fat wethers, 22s 6d to 27s Gd; ewe hoggets, 21s 6d, 23s 10d; wether hoggets, 16s. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report good yardings iu all sections at last week’s Feilding sale, the inquiry for all classes of stock not being quite so keen as has been the case over the past few weeks. The store sheep entry was comprised principally of ewe and wether hoggets of just medium quality, and consequently just a fair sale resulted, borne good-quality fat ewes were submitted and for these values were firm at recent rates.

A heavy yarding of both beef aud dairy cattle came to hand, the quality of beef submitted not being first-class, with the result that just a fair sale resulted. Dairy cows, both cows and heifers of quality and close to profit, sold well with practically a total clearance at auction. A fair entry of runbred cuttle came forward, tho market for these being sticky, with few sales effected. Yearling Jersey heifers showing quality sold freely, the supply in this section not being equal to the demand. Quotations: —
