MONEY OBTAINED FOB BACECOtTESE TBANSACTIONS. Per Press. Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 25. The police allegations against Marcus Jackson, aged 38, salesman, in Court to-day, involved the obtaining of a large sum of money from a clerk, already serving imprisonment for theft from his employers, by posing as a jockey and persuading him to give the money for racecourse transactions. Jackson pleaded not guilty. The charge was stated to bo that on April 15th, and July l&th, Jackson obtained £2lO from George Diaclt by representing that he was Tommy Green, a licensed jockey, and that he, entering business as racehorse trainer, had arranged to buy two horses named Mossvale and Bronze Lady for Diack and needed the money to pay for feed and stable for the horses. Diack gave evidence that ho told accused he had not been successful with racing, in fact he was in the cart through it. Accused assured him he could get him out of it. Diack proceeded to relato a scries of negotiations with the accused and subsequent business relations, accused posing as Green in all he said. He paid accused £2lO. Accused was committed for trial.
