Mr and Mrs W. Lareombe, of Waiuta, South Island, are on a holiday visit to their daughter, Mrs W. Holmes, Eanl'urly street.

Constable A. B. Collinge, who has been stationed iu Palmerston North for a number of years, concluded his duties in the city last evening and will teavo to-morrow evening for Auckland, to which city he has been transferred. Ecv. H. Whitby James, late vicar of St. Peter’s, Terrace End, accompanied by Airs James and two sons, left Palmerston North last night for Auckland, where they will join the Rangitauc on route for England. They were i'areweilod at the station by the churchwardens and many parishioners, also the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs A. E. Mansford.

The Hawke’s Bay Education Board has recommended that Mr Waiter W. hossette be appointed headmaster of tho Woodville District High School, filling the vacancy caused by the transfer to the Auckland district of Mr Cl. W. Slano at the end of last term. The new appointment will take effect from Ecbruary 1. Air Eossette, who is a highly-graded teacher, is at present headmaster of the Norscwood District High School.
