Early Spring Wedding Of Wide Interest

UDY—LAWRENCE There was a charming spring wedding solemnised last AVeduesday, August Id, when Dorothy Christina, eldest daughter of Sir and Mrs A. Lawrence, of Hukanui, was married to Ronald Tracey, third son of Mr and Mrs C. Udy, of Hukanui. The ceremony was performed by Rev. 11. Benny, of Eketahuna, at the Methodist Church, Pahiatua, Mrs AY Twcntyman officiating at tlio organ. The bride, who entered the church escorted by her father, made a lovely picture in a trained gown of white georgetto and lacc, cut oil slimming lines, with a cowl neckline. Her voii was of white embroidered tulle and was arranged to tho head with orange blossom. A shower bouquet of freesias, lilies of tho valley, other spring flowers aud maidenhair fern, completed an attractive toilette. In attendance as bridesmaids wore Miss Annie Lawrenco (chief) and Miss Ada Lawrence, sisters of the bride, also Miss May Thomason, cousin of the bride. They looked sweet in tunic, semi-trained frocks of primrose novelty creoto and gold lame, primrose caps and mittens, and gold shoes. Posies of violets were carried. Two pageboys, in cream satin with gold lace and shoes, also attended. They wero Hamilton Strnhan, son of Mrs T. Strahan, of Apiti, and Charles Udy, son of Mrs B. Udy, of Konini.

Mr Rex Udy, brother of tho groom, carried out tho duties of best man, while Mr Gallon, of Dannovirkc, and Mr Allen Lawrence, brother of the bride, wero groomsmen. Acting as ushers were Mr E. and Mr C. Lawrence. Thero was a pleasing incident when, on leaving the church, the bride was presented with a beautiful liorse-shoe by Mrs F. AVcbb. The reception was afterwards Held at the Hukanui hall, where Mr and Mrs Lawrenco received approximately 200 guests. Mrs Lawrence was smartly attired in a frock of brown creale, with fawn pleating, and coat, liat and accessories to match. She carried a bouquet in goal shadings. Mrs Udy wore a purple frock, with black coat and hat, and carried mauve flowers. Tho bride sat under a beautiful bell, which was the work of a friend. The usual toasts were honoured, and telegrams of congratulations and good wishes read. A wide variety of presents was on display and greatly admired. The bridegroom’s present to the brido was a crocodile skin purse, and to the bridesmaids crystal and silver powder bowls. AVhcn Mr and Mrs B. T. Udy left by car on a tour of tho Auckland district the bride travelled in a bottlegreen frock, with coat and hat to match.

la the evening the guests were entertained at a dance, terminating in the early hours of the morning. Among those present were friends and relatives from Palmerston North, Dannevirke, Woodvillc, Pahiatua, Nireaha, Eketahuna, Waugahu, and Alauriceville. Tho singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought an enjoyable event to a close.
