Tobacconists Conduct Important Trade Meeting
PALMERSTON NORTH TO BE MADE ANNUAL VENUE.
An important conference of the Wellington Provincial Tobacconists’ and Hairdressers’ Association (inc.) was held in Palmerston North during the week-end, this being the first general conference which tho organisation ha:; held, Mr. It. W. Armitt (Wellington) presiding over an attendance of about 40. Important matters of trade interest were discussed in detaij, and plans were laid for achieving a strong and closely-knit association in the immediate future. Pleasure was expressed also at the rapid progress made since the association’s inception.
Mr. L. Paget (Wellington), who for business reasons is compelled to relinquish the position of secretary, was presented with a memento of appreciation.
The conference recognised the ‘centrality of Palmerston North in its commercial district —which extends from Wellington to Napier and New Plymouth, and as far south as Marlborough—by deciding to hold an annual conference in Palmerston North. One lady was included among the delegates.
