Playing in the all-Australian women’s hockey tournament to-day, New Zealand defeated Queensland o—o. Mi ss McKenzie, the brilliant left inner, played centre. She began splendidly by scoring twice. Then she collided with a Queensland player and received a hard knock but was able to continue. Play was also suspended when Miss Drake received a severe hit under the eye from a rising ball. She was taken to hospital but returned to watch the match after treatment.

After half time New Zealand played one short, with Miss McKenzie transferred to right inner. Queensland attacked strongly but were unable to score. Miss Reid had a shot just inside the circle but Queensland cleared. However, Miss Cotter started a rush and Miss McKenzie just flicked the ball in. New Zealand scored again just before the final boll when Miss Saviile was successful with a clean shot. After the match it was announced that one of Miss McKenzie’s first two goals was disallowed because she played after the whistle. Western Australia defeated South Australia 4—o.
