ROAD AND RAIL TRAFFIC IN THE NORTH Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. After half a week of Hood conditions communications Avith tho North by road and rail returned almost to-nor-mal on most routes to-day. Tho weather Avas line during the day and although rain developed in the evening the fall in the areas affected by Hooding was only slight up to a i'ato hour and it is expected that unless there is again a heavy doAvupour all roads will be open for traffic again to-morrow.

The water has receded from the railway tracks and full services arc now being run although at reduced speeds over some of the sections where slips or washouts had occurred.
