Potatoes. Local main crop cleared some time now, but a fair quantity being dug from small areas about tlie district. The southern qoutations have again risen 10s a ton on the week. This makes a riso of almost £1 a ton in a fortnight. Huttons quoted at £7 to £7 Os f.o.b. s.i., prompt. Whites and Dakotas £6 7s (id to £6 ,10s. Home Houlh Island potatoes have already come to Palmerston North, being dear but good, good. Onions. .Short supply meeting fair demand. Prices very linn. Pukekohe supplying at £l3 10s to £l4 a ton f.o.b. A rise ol 15s on the week. Chaff. Home sales reported locally to mcrchauts at £5 10s a ton. Blenheim tMili exporting to North Island. This is great quality chaff. Demand very slack locally and elsewhere. fowl Wheat. A reduction in price of lid a bushel by the Wheat Board brings f.o.b. H.l price to 4s Id, sacks extra. Can now be landed l'’ox ton at -Is lOd a bushel, sacks in. Pollarcl and Bran. Price up 5s this week. Supplies short and demand continues very heavy. Both selling at £7 10s a ton ex local stores. Hay and Mangels. No business reported but inquiries now commencing to come in. Pig Feeds. Strong demand continues with great keenness on the part of purchasers to discover something that seems cheap. Pig xmtatoes are reported to have been sold privately at £2 10s a ton. At this figure they are not cheap. Seed Potatoes. Certified seed is bringing very high prices. The Timaru district crop failed to certify and so the demand is concentrated o:i North Canterbury for mother-seed. Cjuotations are £l2 10s to £l3s f.o.b. Lyttelton. Tho high price has not discouraged demand. A local merchant reports very heavy sales of mother-seed to date. Ordinary local seed is not yet being dealt with.
