When the steering gear locked on a bond, the Inglewood to Purangi mail motor bus with six .ssengers, crashed over a bank and burst into flames. All the passengers and the driver escaped injury. The mail was rescued, but goods and parcels were destroyed. Efforts to extinguish the flames were fruitless. One passenger receiver slight burns on the hands.
