Fancy Dress Masquerade Attracts Many Patrons

HOKOWHITTJ SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S EFFORT

A fancy dress masquerade dance was an innovation made by the Hokowhitu School Committee on Wednesday evening, and heartily approved, judging by the support accorded the function at the Empire hall. The majority of enthusiasts present appeared in fancy dress, no effort having been spared to achieve tho desired effects. After a parade of those wearing fancy costumes had been held, the Mayoress (Mrs. A. E. Mansford) and Mrs. H. Palmer awarded prizes as follow: Best dressed lady. Miss I. Cooper; best dressed- gentleman, Mr. Ford: best pair, Mrs. Boberts and Mrs. Petersen. Shortly afterwards, the popular item on the programme, the Monte Carlo waltz, was danced, and the prize-winners were Mr. Hackshaw and his partner, Miss Paddy. The-hall had been neatly and prettily decorated for the occasion and the function proved to be an unprecedented success. The M.C. was Mr. W. M.
