Sir Kingsley Wood, British I’ost-master-General, stated recently that the amount o'f savings standing to the credit of depositors in the Post Office Savings Bank had now reached the unprecedented figure c’ £306,000,000. The Bank of Australasia has received the following cable, dated June 4th, from its London Office: — (< Xew Zealand lambs: Demand checked for the time being owing to recent rise in prices. In view of smaller shipments it is anticipated present prices will be maintained. Xcw Zealand mutton: Only fair demand, market steady, but stocks too large to permit of-better prices and no material change expected at present. New Zealand beef: Demand and prices steady and no material change anticipated. ’ ’
