From Our Own Correspondent, Golf Tournament. y Under perfect weather conditions and With tho golf course in tip top order, the King’s tournament arranged by the Shannon Golf Club, was a greater success than anticipated. Visitors were present from as far distant as Taihape, which club was strongly represented while others came in goodly numbers from the neighbouring clubs. The committees had details well arranged. A considerable amount of work had been done on- tho fairways in order to bring them up to tournament standard and those who were responsible for the work had the satisfaction o£ knowing that their labours were rewarded with success; In the qualifying round of the lirst day’s play the first eight were: AV. U Clark, E. V. Clark, K. Wilson, J. Dlabey, C. Stern, 13. Dlaecdo, D. Webb and Seecombe. At the end of the lirst round Of the Buckley Championship, AV. G. Clark, K AV Clark, It. Wilson and J. Mabey were left in while the third round fbund the Clark brothers (Levin) left to hght out the final which was won by AY. G. Clark after a hard and interesting game. The second eight played oft m the Shannon handicap—Vcntry-bmith, t • Stern A. 11. Morgan, Bellt (laihapc). Pope, Auld, Easton and DlcPherson. lhe first round left in 11. Stern. A. 11. Morgan Belk and Pope. The final between Stern and Belli was won by Stern. _ Tho best gross score in the qualifying round was won by J. Mabey witth a 11 and the handicap event by C. Tremewan, a first year player, with a nett CO. The first day’s bogey competition was won by It. Stern, with tho line score of live up on tho colonel.

Tho' flight competitions, first day, were won respectively by A. Rawlinson, C. Higliet, J. Chambers and E. Moody. The second liiglit (second day) went to B. Ventry-Smith, 11. M. Mead, C. Higliet, W. B. King and C. Tremewan. The fourbail foursome bogey, second day, was won by J. L. Turner and B. Collins, of Poston with 7 up. At the presentation of. trophies after the second day's play, the president (Mr. H. M. Mead), made reference to the loyal" way the local clubs had patronised the tournament. He thanked all those who had worked to make it the success il was. Special thanks were duo to the ladies for their able support and help. Ot behalf of the visitors, Mr. Auld, of Taihape, thanked the Shannon Club members lor the good time and enjoyable sport they haft had. Tho tournament, he said, was a credit to the club, and lie knew of none where the conditions were hotter or the arrangements more smoothly carried out. He intended returning to the next one with an even larger following of golfers from Taihape. Other visitors spoke in similar strain. One of' the Taihape players m Lie tournament, Mr. F. Fobey, caused rather a mild sensation by arriving at the Shannon links by aeroplane and landing on no. ‘1 fairway. Needless to say, those playing on that particular part of the course, ceased play until after the machine had taken off. • The ■ following partners are drawn to play in the Juno medal match on Saturday:—Morgan and Tremewan; Wilson and Mabey; McLean and Jamieson; Moody and Mclntosh; Goodwin and Easton; Hennessey and Hoggard; Pope and Curran; C. Stern and Macedo; Collins and Thurston; King and Guerin; VentrySmith and Robinson; H. Stern and Elvines; Graham and Chambers; Gudsell and Highet. .
