Foreign Exchange on New Zealand Currency Basis

Messrs. Wright, Stcphcns-on and Co.. Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on Johnsonvillc sale held on Wednesday as-follow:—To the usual attendance of buyers we oil'ered a large yarding of all classes of cattle and an average yarding of sheep. "Very few prime heavy bullocks were yarded, the balance consisting of mediumweight and unfinished sorts. Competition for well finished -cattle was keen at late rates. Plain and light cattle were hard to quit. A few pens of prime heifers met with spirited buying and sold at a slight increase on last week's rates. Heavy cows showed no alteration, while medium-weight station cows and cows, ex-dairy, .were slightly easier. Eunners' and vealers mot with a good sale with no alteration in prices. Sheep: There were no heavy wethers yarded, consequently competition was not 5 keen as only prime sheep were wanted. Unfinished wethers were hard to quit even at lower values. A good sale resulted for all classes of ewes with little alteration on last week's rates. Hoggets were in keen demand at late rates.
