SHOOTING ACCIDENT ON VELDT United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. KIMBERLEY, April 28. Lord Ilyde, son of the GovernorGeneral, died in hospital as tho result of a shooting accident while on a springbok hunt, forty miles from Kimberley. There is no official version of the accident available, but it appears Hyde was walking across the veldt when he stumbled and fell on his gun, which wont off, the bullet entering his abdomen and passing close to his heart.

Lord Hyde’s younger brother and his father, Lord Clarendon, were also members of the shooting party. Lord Hyde was ahead when a shot was heard. Tho others found he had stumbled over his rifle and was dangerously -wounded. He died as he reached hospital. Xord Hyde’s son, aged two, becomes Lord Hyde and the heir to Lord Clarendon.

All Government House functions in relation to the Jubilee have beeu cancelled. Lord Hyde’s remains wi?l be interred in England.
