From Our Own Correspondent. Tiie Masonic Lodge Hal! which was completely destroyed some 9 months ago has now been completely rebuilt, and is in use again. It has been finally decided to officially open the new Town Hall, with a social and dance on Friday, May the 3rd, a great night is ensured. The strengthening work on tho railway bridge over the Poliangina river at Ashhurst is progressing favourably. Weather conditions locally were very good over Easter, Good Friday, Saturday and Sunday being nice warm days with practically no wind. Monday brougfir a change when a strong South East wind and misty rain cooled the air considerably. Rain continued all day Tuesday-but Wednesday broke fine. Personal. Mr. F. H. Carnio' of tho local railway staff is at present on annual leave, Which he is spending with Mrs. Carnio id the Gisborne district. Mr. G. E. Ellis also of the railway staff, is sponding his annual .leave with Mrs. Ellis and family, accompanied by Mr. Ellis’-father who is on a holiday visit to New Zealand from England, touring by rail most of the principal North Mand towns.' Mr. E. Croft of Wellington, is relieving Mr. Carnie. Mr. T. P. Barnard who has been relieving on the permanent way (railways), Wellington, has now returned home. Miss Mary Templeton and Master Templeton are spending a short holiday with relatives at Horopito. Mr. C. Brewer is spending a short holiday in Christchurch. The Misses Nellie and Ma.ud Bauckham of Wellington are on a short visit to their sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Hayward.

Mr. C. Turner Senr., of Norsewood is on a visit to his son, Mr. C. Turner, The Terrace, Ashhurst. Mr. and Mrs. K. S. Ralph have returned to Masterton after spending a short holiday with Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Ralph, Broadlands, Ashhurst.

Miss Belli Romley has returned to school in Masterton after spending Easter with her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. AV. G.' Romley, Broadlands, Ashhurst. The Seventh shoot for the Club (J&iampionships and handicap aggregates was fired by tho Ashhurst Defence Rifle tVub last Aveek. Shooting over the 500 and 600 yards ranges, Mr. AV. Brower’s trophy was Avon by the youngest member hi the Club, M. Patou, Avho registered 27 and 30 off the rifle his handicap giving him the limit and tho trophy. The weather was dull with misty rain at times making visibility bad. A light wind was blowing though later in the afternoon a strong east wind blew up and those who were unfortunate to be shooting last, struck a very rough patch, in some cases 10 and 12 degrees of wind being necessary at 600 yards. Next week's shoot will conclude, the service series. Open sights will be used at '2OO and 300 and the 300 yards shoot over the aperture will go with the 600 yards already fired to. make up the Sth and oth shoots for tlie aggregate. General regret was expressed at tlie departure from tlie district of Mrs. and Miss Borrett, both of whom had been of great service to the church, and will be sadly missed.
