From Our Own Correspondent. Euchre and Dance There was a large attendance at this fortnightly function held by the hail commitec, despite the wet night. Seventy-six players were engaged, and final .results were: — Ladies: Miss Bailey (14.) 1, Mrs Peterson (lOi) Miss' T. Ncwcom.be (4) consolation. Men: Mr Clive Puklowski (111) 1, Mr Purton (11) 2; Messrs H. Crawford and R. Mitchell with three games, tied lor consolation, the former winning the cut. After supper was served, an oldtime dance found favour with all patrons, music being supplied by an orchestra. Messrs H. Gore and I. Crawford were M’s.C. Ping Pong.

Judging by the first night attendance, it appears as if the ping pong evenings will be very successful, lherc were IS players present, and these, divided into sides, played a friendly match. A subsequent meeting of tho committee was held, when it. was decided to change the meeting night to Thursday. If there is another function on the Thursday, the night will lie Friday. Names were drawn for ladder positions and players may challenge two up. Intending members _ are advise to join up as soon as possible, lhe next evening will be next Ffia.). General and Personal The latter portion of tho Easter vacation was-uot favoured with, the brilliant weather of i.he beginning. Already knitting needles are clicking- a sure sign that- winter, with its coricsponding weather, is at hand. A few mild frosts have not been heavy enough to cut off many plants. Mr R. Hazlehurst is enjoying a stay in Hawera at present. -Home again-from an Easter visit to Wellington is Mr W. Vautier. Mr Frank Lloyd slayer over Easier at the Crawford home.. His friends will be pleased to learn that Mr T. Hanford’s condition is still improving with rest.
