Croydon Robbery

ACQUITTAL OF MAZZARDO LONDON, April 26. In connection with the acquittal yesterday of the three men charged with the theft of £20,000 worth of gold from the Croydon Airport, the Recorder’ pointed out that there was no evidence as to the identification of Silvia Mazzardo.

The'witness Manson, who took the men to Croydon at 5 a.m. on the day of the robbery, has now sworn that Mazzardo was not in the taxi.

The gold was stolen on March 2 while awaiting transit by aeroplane to France. At the Police Court proceedings Manson was treated as hostile under cross-examination.
