Honouring Their Majesties’ Jubilee
PREPARATIONS IN AUSTRALIA United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 7.50 p.m. CANBERRA, March 20. Mr R. A. Parkhill (Minister for Defence) to-day announced that the Commonwealth was prepared to co-operate with the State Government in any scheme for the illumination and decoration of public buildings in honour of the King’s Jubilee. The defence forces would also co-operate with the State arrangements in holding parades, reviews cr processions, and all ships of war would be dressed for the occasion. An address of loyalty and felicitation would be presented to his Majesty. Chain of Boy Scout Bonfires CONTRIBUTION TO CELEBRATIONS Received Wednesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, March 19. It is understood that the King will ignite a huge wooden beacon built by Boy Scouts at 9.55 p.m. on May 6 as the signal' for Boy Scouts to set lire to a chain of bonfires in 50 countries, which, will be their contribution to the jubilee celebrations. - In Western Australia JUBILEE CELEERATION ON MAT 24 Received Wednesday, 7.50 p.m. PERTH, March 20. The Western Australian Government has decided that the King’s Jubilee shall be observed in that State on May 24. Their Majesties’ Plans WELCOMING THE DUKE , OP GLOUCESTER (British Official Wireless.) Received Wednesday, 7 p.m.' RUGBY, March 19. The King and Queen, according to present arrangements, will remain at Eastbourne until March 26, when they will return to Buckingham Palace. On March 28 they will drive to Victoria Station to welcome the' Duke of Gloucester on his return homo from his Empire tour. Meanwliile the Prince of Wales will act for the King at the second levee at St. James’ Palace on March 22.
