From Our Own Correspondent. The Rangiotu and Mangawhata. Dairy Companies aro paying out Sd. lb. butterfat for the month of February. There is a slight increase in the milk supply at the factories, due to tlie rains which fell last month and with the nice soaking vain of Sunday and Monday, the supply should be well maintained. Lodge Rangiotu. lino.. K, Dixon, N.G., presided over Ihe monthly meeting held on Monday evening. There was a good attendance of members and. a party of visiting brethren from .Lodge Kopane. It was decided to hold a public installation of officers next month. After the business was concluded, a friendly card tournament was held between Kopane and Rangiotu, the former winning by IS games to 12. Supper terminated a very pleasant evening. Valedictory. The residents of the Bainesse district entertained Mr. and Mrs. W. Cook at a farewell social on Saturday night. There was a large number present to do honour to these highly respected settlers. Dancing was indulged in, to music supplied by Mr. M. Creighton. At a suitable juncture, Mr. A. Metcalfe, on behalf of the settlers in the district, asked Mr. and Mrs. Cook to a,ccept a handsome easy chair and hearthrug, with the best wishes of their many friends in the district. Mr. and Mrs. Cook had resided in Bainesse for over thirty years and they had always helped to further any cause that had been for the good of the district. Mr. Metcalfo concluded by wishing the guests of the evening a long and happy retirement. Mrs. Cook was then presented with a dainty posy by little Olwyn Buchanan. The company then joined in singing "For ihey are jolly good fellows,” "Auld Lang Syne” and “Let’s Grow Old Together.” Mr. Ryan replied on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Cook, who have sold thenfarm, intend taking up their residence in Foxton. Tennis. A team from the Kairanga Club visited the local courts on Saturday, when an enjoyable match was played. The weather was Intensely hot, making conditions very trying for the players. The following are the detailed results of the play, Rangiotu being mentioned first:— Ladies’ singles; Miss K. Dixon beat Mrs. Collis G—2; Mrs. Chapman lost to Miss Lancaster 2—6; Miss N. Bond beat Miss Green 6—o; Miss K. Bond lost to Miss Capp 4—6. Men’s singles: E. Donaldson beat L. Davey 6—4; E. Searancke lost to L. Clarke 2—6; Hunia, beat Meldon fi—s; D. Donaldson lost to G. Davey 5—6. Ladies’ -doubles: Miss Dixon and Mrs. Chapman lost to Mrs. Collis and Miss Lancaster 4—6; Misses N. and K. Bond beat Misses Green and Ca.pp 6—o. Men’s doubles: E. Donaldson and E Searancke beat E. Davey and L. Clarke 6—3; Hunia-and D. Donaldson lost to Mildon and Clarke 3—6. Combined doubles: E. Donaldson and Miss Dixon lost to Mrs. Collis and E. Davey 3—6; E. Searancke and Mrs. Chapman lost t.o L. Clarke and Miss Lancaster 3—6; Hunia and Miss Bond lost t.o Mildon and Miss Green 4—6; D. Donaldson and Miss K. Bond beat G. Davey and Miss Capp 6—l. Kairanga won by 9 sets to 7, although Rangiotu won 72 games to' 69. Tea was served during the afternoon and was much enjoyed.
