Prom Our Own Correspondent. Euchre Party and Dance. A successful euchre party and dance was held on Friday In aid of the funds of the Rongotea Anglican Church. There was a largo attendance present and the controlling committee had all arrangements well in hand for a very successful entertainment. The winners of the euchre prizes were Mrs. E. J. Rose 1 and Miss Madge Murray 2. Mr. G. Taylor was tho winner of the flrst prize for men, whilst Messrs. Harold Knight, A. D. Webby and H. Tong cut for the second prize, the last-named being successful. Messrs. .T. A. Florence and A. D. Webby carried out the duties of markers and Mr. J. W. Dixon acted as doorkeeper. Two competitions were held during the evening for an iced cake and a box ot chocolates and they were won respectively by Messrs. Eric Clare and Victor McEwen. Rev. B. R. White returned thanks on behalf of the church for tho splendid attendance and many helpers during the evening. After the serving of supper da.hcing was carried on until an earlyhour ill the morning to music supplied b.v Mr. J. V. Walls. Mr. Harold Knight carried out the duties of M.C. Fishing. The Raugitikei river locally- is providing splendid trout tishing at present and local anglers report plenty of fish all in good condition. In fact one angler remarks that never for many years have fish been so plentiful as they aro at prosent. Drama Club. The annual meeting of the Drama Club was held on Friday when there was a large attendance present. Mrs. P. T. Scott was voted to the chair. All the accounts were submitted and everything was in order over the previous year's working. General routine business was discussed and future plans for the guidance of the club were spoken about and everyone seemed very enthusiastic for the coming year. Mrs. P. T. Scott was appointed reporter of the club’s activities to the Institute. The following officers were elected to the committee for the ensuing vear: Chairman, Mrs. P. T. Scott; joint directors and convenors, Miss R. Conelly and Mrs. R. C. Webby; secretary and treasurer, Miss M. Teague; stage manager, Mrs. N. N. Newport and Mrs. F. J. Thomson and Miss Beatrice Reeve. Personal. Master Vernon McKenzie spent tin-week-end al. his home. “Clydesdale.” and returned to Palmerston North on Monday morning. Miss E. Clouston, of Motueka, is Ihe guest of Mr. J. McKelvie, at “Fukemararaa.” Messrs. T. Proctor and S. Hodge have left for Cambridge, taking ponies through to the polo tournament. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. McKelvie, accompanied by Miss Rawi McKeivlc motored through to Cambridge on Tuesday to attend, the New Zealand polo tournament which is being played there this year. Mr. McKelvie is captain of tho Raugitikei team, which is taking part. The team lias been putting in some solid practice and the best of good luck is extended to them and the hope that they will be successful In securing one of the cups to be competed for. Other members of the team are Messrs. Parsons brothers (2) and Simpson. Mr. C. J. Florence is away in Vellmgton. Miss Winnie Clare is spending a lew days in tho capital city. Harvest Festival. The annual harvest festival service of Ihe local Presbyterian Church was held last Sunday and there was a large attendance present. The Rev. Shilton preached an appropriate sermon for tho occasion. There was a wonderful display of fruit, home cookery, produce etc., and the proceeds of same go to a very worthy cause.
