Store sheep. There was a small
• penning, comprising a few lots of hog- ' gets, which sold well at up to 20s, and . a pen or two of ewes and lambs and adult wethers, for which there was an average demand. Fat sheep. —A total of 4000 was ponned and there was a recovery in • prices of Is to Is Od a head. Extra ’ prime heavy wethers sold to 24s lOd, ;; prime heavy 22s to 23s 6d. medium ’ weight prime 19s Gd to 21s 6d, ordinary . ISs Gd to 19s 3d, light to ISs, extra prime ewes to 21s 40, prime heavy ISs to 20s 3d, medium weight prime 15s Gd to 17s Gd, ordinary 13s Gd to 15s, and light and aged to 13s. Fat cattle.—A total of 505 was penned, which included some good lines ‘ from South Canterbury, Southland and Banks Peninsula. There was a slight easing of a few shillings for prime beef and about 10s a head for second- ’ ary. Best beef made to 28s per lOOlbs, good 24s to 265, heavy 22s to 245, and ordinary down to ISs. "Values: Extra heavy prime steers to £l4 2s Gd, prime heavy £lO 10s to £ll 15s, medium weight prime £S 15s to £lO 10s, ordinary £6 to £8 10s, light to £5 15s, extra primo heifers to £lO 2s Gd, prime £6 to £S, ordinary £4 10s to £5 15s, light £3 to £4 ss, extra prime cows to £9 2s 6d, prime £5 5s to £7 15s, ordinary £4 to £5, light and aged to £3 15s. Fat pigs.—Bacon was- a shade stronger, while pork was unaltered. Values: Choppers to £3 11s Gd, baconers ’ 43s to £3 10s (average price per lb., 5d to 5Jd); porkers 32s to 43s Gd (average price per lb., 5d to Gd.)
