New Radio Station Nearing Completion

AUCKLAND’S TALL MAST. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. The last section of the new IYA mast at Henderson was hauled into position to-day, thus completing the largest radio mast south of Mexico City. The mast is 500 feet high. All that remains to be done is the rigging of the aerial and the tightening of a few bolts. There arc signs of intense activity in the transmitcr building, where truck loads of equipment are arriving every few minutes. The plant has been built in Sydney, where it was assembled and fully tested prior to dismantling and shipping. It is anticipated that the plant will be ready for final tests some time next month. By that time Iho Shortland street studios of the new station should also be ready for occupation.
