Argentina Checking Meat-packing Costs
ARREST OF ENGLISH MANAGER ORDERED. United Press Association.—By Electric 'Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 9.25 p.m. BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 20. The Argentine Senate’s meat investigation committee has ordered the arrest of Richard Tootcl, manager of the Anglo Packing Company, owned by the Vcstey interests, of London. Tootcl was charged with abolishing the company's cost accounting office and re fusing to inform the committee’s accountants how they figured their costs. The committee also alleged that he admitted burning records and sending books abroad.
The Supreme Court has upheld the Government’s right to inspect the books of foreign companies and sustained lines of 5000 pesos upon each of seven Eng lish and American meat-packing firms.
