From Our Own Correspondent. The final game in the ladies’ section of the Clock Tennis tournament played on the Aplti Tennis Club’s opening day, has now been played. Mrs. J. Kilgour, who defeated Mrs. K. Waterson, will take the trophy. The Rev. Mr. D. Spence and Mrs. Spence who have been paying a rouno of visits to friends and relatives in this district, have gone north to make theii future home in Auckland. Mr. R. Patchett, tho Apiti Methodis. Home Missionary, was married last weel to Miss Jean Whyte, of Greytown. Mr. and Mrs. Patchett have returned to tin. Parsonage. Mr. P. Warnoek spent a few days in Apiti before leaving on a visit to Australia. Mrs. C. M. Stanley presided at a meeting of the W.I. committee last week. The programme for next meeting is being provided by committee members and Alesdames G. Watkins, S. White, P. Warnock, and J. Cureen will be the hostesses. There are to be competitions for a decorated bowl of roses and also a decorated bowl of any flowers. Samples of the W.I. Christmas cards and letter compendiums have been received. There were nine entries in tho Apiti School Calf Rearing Competition which is in Group 3 of tho Manawatu-Oroua Boys and Girls Agricultural Club. Judging took place at the Apiti School on Monday morning. Mr. J. H. Mason of Feilding was the judge, the supervisor being Mr. Alfred Kidd of Kiwitea. Amongst those present were Mr. G. H. Gubbins (head teacher), and Messrs. H. Wiidbore and A. W. Benseman, representing the school committee. The awards were as follows: Best Dairy Type—Melba Prince 1; Pearl Prince 2; Ray Prince 3; Wilfred Wiidbore v.h.c.; Victor Wiidbore, v.h.c.; Caro and attention in rearing—Ray Prince 1; Victor Wiidbore 2; Melba Prince 3; Pearl Prince v.h.c.: Raymond Benseman v.h.c.
