Garden Party

The deportment and discipline seen at the Palmerston North Girls’ High School was highly praised recently by an official visitor, and that it was warranted will be evidenced in the demeanour of the pupils, and their prompt obedience to tho commands of the drillmistress, in the spectacular physical culture drill to be presented at the school' grounds, Fitzherbert avenue, this afternoon.

Intelligent adroitness in millinery and dressmaking is an important female acquisition, and that it can be acquired by tlie girl students will be pleasingly manifested at to-day’s garden party by a bright mannequin parade. A highly interesting exhibition of commercial art will be found in a classroom set apart for posters obtained from all parts of the world; and advanced typing, commercial work, in addition to art needle-work and other artcrafts will display the high standard of skill attained by pupils of the school. Games have not been overlooked by the committee of tho Parents’ Association and attractive stalls stocked with a variety of useful goods have been arranged by lady members. Afternoon tea, ice cream and soft drinks will be obtainable, and a convenient bus service will be found in tho advertisement columns. Festivities will conclude iu the evening with a dance at the school. As the purpose of the whole function is to provide funds for a much-needed assembly hall, it is deserving of support.
