CENTURY BY BROWN
United Press Association.— By . Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 11.10 p.m. MELBOURNE, Nov. 20. Australia wou the cricket match against The Rest—played as a benefit for Woodl'ull and Ponsford —by seven wickets. With easy stroke play the Brown and l’onsford partnership of 100 to-day put Woodfull’s team well on, the way to victory. Brown’s easy swings, cuts and glides were the perfection of timing. & Nagel was the first bowler who compelled respect on an easy wicket and the scoring slowed down. Ponsford’s downfall was brought about when he slashed a rising off ball from McCormick. It failed to keep down and he was easily caught by Hill. The testimonial fund receipts, plus donations, exceed £2OOO. Detailed scores: — THE REST.
