L’Atlantique Fire
EVIDENCE BEFORE APPEAL COURT United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. PARIS, Nov. 16. During the appeal of insurers of the burned liner L’Atlantiquo against the verdict of the Lower Court, it was stated that detectives discovered that the electrical wiring of the liner was seriously defective. There was also evidence that four mysterious Englishmen cashed a. large cheque at the British Bank in Geneva, after which they'crossed the frontier to Champignolles, where thoy lived with M. Ferdinand Blanc, the French representative of the British company which supplied the gyroscopic automatic pilot to L'Atlantique. At. Blanc disclosed reporting on the defective installation to his principals, but after tho disaster he patriotically decided to remain silent in order not to asperse the French mercantile marine. Ho later declined to visit London in TCgard to the matter, believing that the disaster was not due to foul play faulty electric installation.
