Members of the local club aro showing much enthusiasm in the game this sea son and with improved membership_and conditions of play many pleasant games have eventuated. The first round of tne club singles championship resulted as follows:—McDonald lost to Clayton, Blaikie beat Hyde, Morgan heat Newtpn, Cronquest lost to Grey, Roach beat Wil son, Collins lost to Alexander, Stern lost tn HemminsEen, 3N!ead lost to Aim. J-ne following is S th 4 draw for the second round:—Blaikie v. Morgan, prey v. Roach, Alexander v. Aim, Hemmmgsen t. Bovis, Collins v. McDonald, Newton x. Mead. Stern v. Hyde, Cronquest v. Wilson, Clayton a bye. Farming Conditions. At present the Shannon district is looking its best. Light, warm showers of rain and long hours of sunshine have combined to give abundance of feed. Stock generally is in prime condition and lambs are ready for the freezing works, while the return of butterfat has reached its peak. Last month proved to be the driest October for many years and the early spring conditions will probably make it a record season In all departments of agricultural and pastoral farming. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. G. Starting early in the morning they made their objective Mangaore, where an enjoyable day was spent in tracking and hiking. They aro now busy preparing for their concert.
