SEASON’S OFFICERS ELECTED
Mr. M. O’Keefe presided at a meeting of the Old Boys Cricket Club this week, when arrangements for the season were made. Nino new members were elected. The election of officers for the incoming year resulted: —Patron, Mr. T. R. Hodder; president, Mr. G. H. Bennett; vice-presidents, Messrs J. W. Butherfurd, W. P. Anderson, W. Laird, T. L. Senior, J. Murray, .T. Houlihan, F. G. Major, N. H. Nash, A. McKegg and C. Eglinton; club captain, Mr. S. Miller; joint hon. secretaries, Messrs S. Lang and J. Gallichan; hon. auditor, Mr. P. B. Trow; committee, the club captain, secretaries, Messrs F. Guinness, M. O’Keefe and D. Spring; delegate to the High School Old Boys Association, Mr. P. B. Trow; delegates to the Manawatu Cricket Association, Messrs S. Miller and M. 0 ’Keefe. Nine new members were admitted. Practice nights were set down for Tuesdays and Thursdays. It was decided to enter three teams in the local competitions, ono in the senior grade, one in the junior A and one in the junior B. The matter of entering a team in the mid-week competitions was left to the colnmittec to consider. The subscrip-' tions were fixed at the following rates: Senior 30s, junior A 20s and junior B 15s, the fees to be reduced to 255, 15s and 12s fid respectively if paid by November 30.
The United Club wrote advancing the suggestion that tho clubs engage in friendly matches in the senior and junior B grades on Saturday, October G. The fixtures wero accepted. The management committee was instructed to purchase new wickets in accordance with the instructions issued by the Manawatu Association that tho higher wickets would be used this season.
Following a discussion relativo to suggesting that the Manawatu Association reduce the ground fees, it was decided that no action be taken in view of tho fact that there was a possibility that a Hawke Cup challenge fixture might bo undertaken this season. Mr. I\ B. Trow, who has filled the position of secretary to the club for tho past three years, applied for permission to transfer to tho Y.M.C.A. Club for this season. Tho necessary ■permission was forthcoming and Mr. Trow was accorded a vote of appreciation for all he had done for the club.
