The legal committee of the United Church of Canada, declaring that its constitution contemplated only a male ministry, recommended that the proposal of the Saskatchewan Assembly to ordain Miss Lydia De Gruchy be not entertained. Miss de Gruchy has been pastor for twelve years, but cannot marry or baptise.
