The standard of play suffered somewhat from tho lateness of the season, but Phoenix, who boasted in their ranks a strong sprinkling of first fifteen and second fifteen members, proved stronger in both departments, although Albion reduced the scoring margin to a low level. The preliminary games were held at tho beginning of tho week, when Kia Toa and Gordon wero eliminated.
