Feilding Fire Board

QUARTERLY MEETING

The quarterly faceting of the Feilding Fire Board was held yesterday afternoon, Air. W. E. Carthevv (chairman) presiding. There were also present Afessrs. V. M. Edgar, D. S. N, McCartney, and A. G. AlcCorkindale. An apology for absence was read from Air E. Fair. Tho Audit Department wrote returning the certified balance-sheets of the board for the past two years, both being in order.

Dealing with tho reference in the superintendent’s report to the waterpressure records, tho visiting members of tho board expressed pleasure at the fact that regular records were kept of the water pressure. The high pressure recorded both in the morning and in the evening was most satisfactory, and clearly indicated that thero was available a good water supply for lire-fignt-ing purposes. Accounts paid show tho last meeting, amounting to £2OO 5s sd, wore approved, and accounts totalling £123 Os lid were passed for payment. Superintendent’s Report. Tho brigade superintendent (Mr 0. C. Sporlo) reported as follows: “The brigade received three calls during the quarter —one chimney fire, one false alarm, and one to a shed afire. Insurance, nil; fire loss for the quarter, nil| The present strength of tho brigade is 20 men and two officers. The following men are doing station duty: Alessrs B. Thompson, G. Packer, E. Barnett, and H. Smith. There have been seven musters during the quarter and the work and attendances havo been very satisfactory, Several water and pumping tests have been carried out, and a good supply and pressure has been tho result. I have to report tho buildings and the plant as being in good order. Tho water pressure has been very good and an even pressure at OOlbs. at 8 a.m. and OGlbs. at 8 p.m. has been maintained. Mr S. Gaskin is carrying out his duties as set down by tho board in the usual manner.”
