Lancashire’s Coal Supplies
A survey of the Lancashire coalfield; issued, by the Department of Scientific and industrial Research in Britaii states that the proved coal resource! available in the country are estimator at 4,000,000 tons. Tho coalfield covers roughly a tri angular area 400 square miles in ex tent, from Burnley in the north, tc Prcscot in the west and Stalybridgo ir the east. Tho individual seams arc variable in thickness and constitution but are all coking coals, some having this property strongly developed and most having a high calorific—that is, heat-producing value.
