From Our Own Correspondent. The fortnightly euchre party and dance organised by the local Social Club tvas held on Thursday night last, when there was an exceptionally good attendance. The ladies’ cuchrd prizes were won by Miss Nix and Miss I. Farmer (runnerup), while the men's awards were secured by Messrs W. J. Sexton and J. Hehir (runner-up). Mr. B. H. Ihle was M.C. for the dance. Dance extras were played by Messrs 801 l and A. J. Carroll, the dances this season have proved very popular, the attendances constituting a record. Renovations to the hall furniture have now been completed, and the Hall Society is to be congratulated upon the neat appearance of the building. From records supplied by the school, the rainfall for the month of August totalled 3.55 inches, while the total for the eight months ending August 31 was 31.1 a inches. The school reopened on Monday after the second term vacation with the roll number increased by four, but the attendance is not yet back to normal, there being still a few cases of measles in the district. Mr. T. Dawior, the local factory manager, who suffered a leg Injury some weeks ago, has recovered sufficiently to return home from hospital, but is stiil receiving treatment. Particularly cold weather has been experienced during the week.
