There was a small entry of sheep and on!}- odd lots being offered, which sold at recent rates. Quito a fair yarding of cattle was submitted, and met fair competition. A small entry of dairy cows were submitted, which were neglected. Prices were:—Fat ewes, 21s, 22s Cd; store empty ewes, 10s to 12s; hoggets, 12s to 15s 3d; 4-yr. P.A. bullocks, £4 10s to £4 17s; fat cows, dairy sorts, £2 10s; P.A. fat cows, £4 2s 6d; P.A. heifers, £5.

FROZEN MEAT. MUTTON MARKET FIRM. Prices are practically unchanged in the London frozen lamb market. Consumption continues to be affected by hot weather, but is showing' signs of slight improvement. In the mutton market wethers are firm with short spot stocks, and ewes are firm with fair demand. Trade is slow in the beef market. New Zealand porker pigs are quiet, with fair trade for the time of the year, and the market for baconers is steady and unchanged. According to the weekly report received by cable by the New Zealand Meat Board dated July 27, relating to business done in the Smithfield market" and London stores, the following are the approximate average prices for the week, with those for the previous;week in parentheses:— New Zealand sheep: Canterbury and North Island selected crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 48-56, s}d per lb.
